Need Some Music Industry Experience? Look No Further!

Last year we posted some useful links for starting your own business and finding your dream job in the music industry. If you are currently looking for experience in the music industry, these links are still relevant, and could provide you with a way of beginning your music career! Sites such as Arts Jobs, Guardian Jobs, The Big Music Project and UK Music Jobs regularly post new job opportunities for various positions and for varying experience.

However, it may also be useful to research specific companies that you may be interested in. Many companies post their job advertisements direct to their own website and social media profiles.

Need Some Music Industry Experience? Look No Further!

For example, our lovely sponsors, Horus Music, are searching for people to work for them for a year as part of their student intern program. They offer this opportunity every year, and a limited number of students are chosen to become Client Managers. They will be responsible for the online distribution of music from artists and labels to streaming and download services such as Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and many more.

This is an opportunity they have posted directly to their website, and many other music industry businesses do the same, so it’s definitely worth researching!

Just because you don’t find a job that interests you on so-called ‘music job’ websites, doesn’t mean that companies that you’re interested in won’t have any positions available.

The Horus Music position, and other jobs out there, will allow you to gain valuable insight into how the music industry works by working with professionals from this industry, as well as rubbing shoulders with them at networking events and conferences in the UK and overseas.

Previous Client Managers at Horus Music have attended events in places such as London, Brighton, Liverpool and even France! These events range from music festivals to professional music industry conferences, and will give you the opportunity to network with people in order to not only bring in new clients for Horus Music and their sister companies, but to also build your own personal contacts in the industry – which will always be useful for the future.

The deadline for applying is 31st May 2016 so if you want to be in with a chance of getting this position you better hurry!

Click on this link to get more information on the role: http://horusmusic.co.uk/job-opportunities/one-year-intern/ and if you think this is for you then email your CV and a covering letter to hello@horusmusic.co.uk with the job title as the subject (Client Manager).

Alternatively, if this doesn’t sound quite right for you, then head over to our Useful Links post to find plenty more resources to help you. It can also help you think about what you might want to learn about in the industry, find companies relevant to this, and enquire about whether they have any jobs available.

Good luck!
